Just a few minutes from Veselí nad Lužnicí, in the heart of the picturesque South Bohemian countryside, lies a 3-hectare catfish pond. The water is set in quiet, unspoilt nature, largely surrounded by trees, and the nearest civilisation is about 2 kilometres away.

The pond has only two fishing swims, almost 100 metres apart. The average depth is 1.5 metres, and an above-standard stock makes sure the silence by the water is often replaced by a proper rush of adrenaline.

More than 90 catfish currently roam this water. The catfish are joined by trophy carp, pike and sturgeon, so you never know who will take your bait first.

Rules at Catfish Pond

Catfish fishing rules (must be read and followed)
  • This water is strictly catch & release.
  • Anglers must keep the place tidy and treat nature with care and consideration. Leave your swim in the same state you found it on arrival. A rubbish bag is available at each lodge; everyone takes their own rubbish home.
  • Fishing runs non-stop, 24 hours a day: it starts at 14:00 and ends at 12:00. Any changes must be agreed with the water manager.
  • A maximum of 2 catfish rods + 1 carp rod is allowed.
  • Echo sounders, taking baits out by boat and playing fish from the boat are allowed.
  • Using a catfish clonk is prohibited.
  • Catfish of any size must not be pulled onto the bank. All handling and photographing of the fish must take place in the water — the water manager will lend you chest waders.
  • Motorised boats are prohibited.
  • Tethering fish in any way is strictly prohibited.
  • Scaling and gutting fish anywhere on the pond grounds, and lighting fires anywhere other than the designated place, are strictly prohibited.
Permitted tackle
  • Rods with a casting weight of over 400 g.
  • Braided main line with a minimum breaking strain of 60 kg (monofilament main line is strictly prohibited).
  • Swivels and snaps rated to 100 kg.
  • Hooklink braid rated to 100 kg, or monofilament with a minimum diameter of 1.10 mm.
  • Hooks by OWNER, MUSTAD, GAMAKATSU or FUDO.
  • Permitted rig = 2 single hooks, maximum size 6/0. Treble hooks are prohibited!
  • We recommend fishing with a breakaway tie-off line. The rig may only be tied to the poles provided for this purpose, which every angler receives from the water manager on arrival. Tying breakaway lines to natural obstacles or to the bank is prohibited.
  • Lure fishing tackle must be discussed with and approved by the water manager.
  • If the rules are broken, the water manager or the owner of the pond has the right to end your fishing immediately, without any refund.

Arrival at the water from 14:00.

Departure no later than 12:00 on the last day.

Fishing runs non-stop, 24 hours a day — it starts at 14:00 and ends at 12:00. Please contact the water manager before you arrive.
